Hiding SharePoint Library or List Items from the Search Results Page

Sometimes it makes no sense to show a list's content in WSS or MOSS search results. To hide the list or library you access the Setting / Library or List settings / Advanced Settings page and change the Search attribute to No.

However, be aware that new items won't appear in the search but existing items will continue showing in the search results. To completely clean the list or library you need to run a full crawl. This is done in the central administration area.

  2. Well i am using MOSS 2007,
Here is the brief funcionality which i have to implement:-

For a list we can set the nocrawl for it by simply going LIST SETTINGS-->ADVANCED SETTINGS-->SEARCH-->SELECT NO

I have to implement this by using webservices approach. As mentioned in your blog, its easy to implement it by using object model by setting nocrawl=true but i cannot find any method exposed by webservices for implement the same.

  3. I asked our tech people and they have no solution for setting up the attribute via WS. The post here refers to the way super user or server administrators act.
